Rita Gordon, Rotarian and Director of Community Service from the Roseville Rotary Club, enlightened our club on the process that they went through starting a community garden in Roseville.  The Roseville Community Garden has partnered with the Placer Food Bank to supply wonderful vegetables to their organization for distribution!

On their 1/5 of an acre in Granite Bay, the club grows peppers, tomatoes, green beans and utilizes the volunteer services of the local Girl Scouts, boys' service clubs and local community people who want to help!  With the aide of Home Depot's donation of materials and labor, they were able to install irrigation and raised beds for growing their crops.  What a wonderful accomplishment!!

Every Saturday morning from 8-10 am, volunteers from all areas can be found working in the garden.  Also, an Adult Beverage night was started on Wednesday nights to encourage another facet of individuals who wanted to donate some time!!

What a great project and worthwhile and fun opportunity for all involved!
